If you’ve been wondering what the name of the song used in the ad is and who sings it, it’s a track called ‘When I Was A Boy’ by Jeff Lynne’s British rock group ELO, aka Electric Light Orchestra.
Despite having enjoyed most of their success during the 70’s and 80’s, this particular song is taken from the groups fourteenth studio album ‘Alone in the Universe’, which was only released in November, 2015. Marking that the band are well and truly back, the album has already reached number 2 on the US Billboard Top Rock Albums chart.
ELO are best known for such songs as ‘Roll Over Beethoven’, ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, ‘Xanadu’, ‘All Over the World’ and ‘Mr. Blue Sky’.
The lyrics from When I Was a Boy that you hear sung in the ad are: ‘When I was a boy I had a dream, all about the things I’d like to be. Soon as I was in my bed, music played inside my head. When I was a boy I had a dream. And radio waves, kept me company. In those beautiful days, when there was no money. When I was a boy, I had a dream’.
Hyundai’s Super Bowl 2016 brand commercial states that ‘Better is the engine that drives us, to do what we do, to make the cars we make’. The ad was uploaded to the car manufactures official US YouTube channel on February 4, 2016.
